Geospatial Digital Records Preservation Conference, Ljubljana, 8-9 May 2023

The Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, Geoarh, and the DLM Forum are organising the 3rd Geospatial Digital Records Preservation Conference on the 8th and 9th of May 2023 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This is going to be an exciting 2-day hybrid event that will bring together geospatial data producers, archives, data repositories, solution providers and their users.  The theme of this year's conference is Sustainable Access to Geospatial Records in the Digital Economy. The conference supports the aim of the Digital Europe Programme to make Europe greener and more digital, which inevitably puts geospatial records at the centre of the topic. Geospatial records covering longer periods of time will be invaluable in the effort to make better forecasts faster and accept informed decisions with greater clarity, and therefore support digital users.

Registration for the conference is closed.

The programme has been completed based on the following sets of topics:
  • The importance of sustainable access to geospatial records in the digital future (geospatial role in the digital economy, AI and GeoAI applications, Green Transition initiative of the EU, etc.);
  • What we should know about geospatial records (documentation requirements, metadata, interoperability aspects of sustainable access, applicable standards, best archiving practices, etc.);
  • Best practices, tools and solutions for the preservation and reuse of geospatial records time series;
  • Is the geospatial future digital, and how? (Future needs for producers, archives and users, are we ready for GeoAI, next steps to meet the needs of future users).
